Introducing Whispers of Rhythm: Emergence, the first in a new multidisciplinary art performance series that merges the inverse disciplines of dance and poetry. With a two-night NYC debut performance on November 7th and 8th 2023, five groups of selected poet/ dancer collaborators will meet in late September, begin creating original works over the course of October, and will prepare for performance in early November. Curated and produced by Debora Domass and co-produced by the Poetry Society of New York.

These performances will visualise poetry through dance and vocalise dance through language along the theme of “Emergence”. Dance and poetry will intertwine, with the dancers' bodies expressing the poets' words, enriching both art forms through their complementary qualities. Using the rhythm and style of poetry instead of music, and expressing the metaphors, styles and rhythm inherent in contemporary and modern dance, Whispers of Rhythm aims to create interdisciplinary art experiences that result in a quality larger than the sum of their parts.
